The day had been spent exploring all that is London: the tourist attractions, the shops, and maneuvering the tubes. A quick glance at the map indicated Regents Park was just a few block away, it would be a nice relaxing way to end the day.
Regents Park is a royal park designed by John Nash which is spread out over 395 acres. The park boasts the largest grass area for sports in central London. The park offers a wide variety of activities such as an open air theater, the London Zoo, and cafes. In the inner circle is Queen Mary’s Garden which is home to over 12,000 roses of 400 varieties, with many other types of flowers as well. The beds are laid out in designs which have to be amazing from an aerial view. As it is, they are pretty spectacular from a ground view.
There are rows of yellow, red, pink, and orange roses fully bloomed. There are hundreds and hundreds of roses in every color. Some are small and dainty, while others are as large as a man’s fist. The grounds are immaculately trimmed with paved walks and paths wandering throughout the gardens. Little nooks are tucked away with benches overlooking ponds while swans and ducks swim.
Strolling through the park is one of my favorite things to do while in London. Right now with the possibility of snow tomorrow, the memory of warm sun and fragrant flowers has me longing for spring.
