Few years back my daughter introduced me to the mindset of being more positive, to count my blessings, to consciously choose to be happy daily. That was the best gift ever, because I found Christmas spirit again but in a different way. When asked for some ideas of what I'd want for Christmas...I'd draw a blank. I had so many blessings in my life that the material aspect of gifts didn't appeal to me. Discovered my husband and daughter felt the same way so we decided to do something different that year. We set a $50 limit on gifts and the gifts had to mean something. No socks, or gloves, or what I like to call "filler gifts". Something from the heart that the receiver would know as soon as they opened it. It was hard! But it was one of the most memorable Christmas' at our house ever.
Each day I wake up with the gift of life and its my choice how good or bad the gift will be. I have the gift of health, the gift of family, the gift of a job, a home, and on and on. I'm only promised today so I try to live every day like its Christmas morning. I will cherish each moment with family and friends - we never know when it may be the last time they'll be in our lives.
My wish for everyone is a memorable Christmas. Remember to be thankful when you open your eyes in the morning for your gift of life. Merry Christmas!
